An air-to-air heat pump moves heat between the outside air and your home. In summer, it draws heat out of your rooms and releases it outside. In winter, it reverses the process, extracting heat from the outdoor air and delivering it into your home as warm air, even in cold weather.

Warm or cool air is delivered through slim wall-mounted or ceiling indoor units, each with its own controls, so you can set a different temperature in every room. Unlike an air-to-water heat pump, an air-to-air system doesn’t heat water for radiators or your hot water cylinder, so we’ll talk you through how your hot water will be provided.

In cooling mode, heat is taken out of your rooms. In heating mode, the cycle reverses and heat from outside is brought in.

If you’re replacing your existing heating with an air-to-air heat pump system that heats your whole home, you may be eligible for a £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant. RT Solar will check your eligibility and manage the application as part of your installation, with the grant deducted from your quote upfront.

The MCS Scheme to allow for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme is in the final stages of being published to allow homeowners to take advantage of this.
